Summary
We do not set cookies or create user profiles. We measure page views in aggregate without recognising users across websites. We do not sell data and currently maintain no supporter list.
Hosting
This website is served through Cloudflare (Cloudflare Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Accessing the website necessarily transmits connection data, such as your IP address, access time and browser type, to Cloudflare. This is required to deliver the website. Processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in providing the website securely and efficiently. Connection data is stored only as long as needed to deliver and secure the website, for example to fend off attacks, and is deleted afterwards. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Further information: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Web analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics. This analytics tool does not set cookies or create user profiles. When you visit, your IP address is necessarily processed for a short time, for example to determine the country of origin, but it is not stored. We evaluate only aggregate access data, such as page views, country of origin and referrer, which does not allow conclusions about individuals. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is measuring the reach of our initiative.
Cookies and local preferences
We do not set cookies. We store your colour-scheme preference locally in your browser so it is kept for your next visit. This preference is not transmitted to us.
Letter to members of parliament
The letter on the get-involved page is drafted entirely in your browser. What you type into the fields is not transmitted to us and not stored. You send the letter yourself, for example through your email program; the terms of your email provider and the parliament apply to that transmission.
Contact by email
If you contact us by email, we process your message and the data it contains, such as your name, email address and message content, to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Article 6(1)(b) for contract-related enquiries. Our legitimate interest is answering enquiries and communicating with people who contact us about this initiative. We keep your emails as long as they are needed to handle the enquiry and for further correspondence with you. We delete them on request, unless statutory retention obligations require otherwise.
Our email service uses Google Workspace (Google Ireland Ltd., Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Emails are processed and stored on Google’s servers. Further information: policies.google.com/privacy.
Registration and supporters
The initiative on dac8.org currently has no registration, petition list or newsletter of its own. We do not currently collect supporters’ names, postal addresses or powers of attorney. If a procedural step requires such information, we will collect it for that specific purpose, explain this at collection and update this notice. Our RSS feed requires no registration. For the association’s newsletter, we link to Bitcoin Austria’s website, where registration takes place.
Donations
Bitcoin donations are handled through our own BTCPay server. The donation page requests neither a name nor an email address. Technically necessary connection data is processed when it is accessed. BTCPay maintains invoice and payment data needed for processing, such as amount, status, payment address and transaction reference. We process this data to handle and record donations and meet statutory retention and accounting obligations, based on Article 6(1)(f) or Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
For bank-transfer donations, we receive the data transmitted with the transfer, such as name, IBAN and payment reference, and process it to handle and record the donation. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and Article 6(1)(c) for statutory retention and accounting obligations.
For both ways of donating, our legitimate interest is handling and recording donations properly. We keep the data as long as needed to process the donation and as long as statutory retention obligations apply, in particular under tax and association law, and delete it afterwards.
Your rights
You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Contact office@bitcoin-austria.at with any concerns. Complaints may be submitted to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).
Where we process your data on the basis of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right under Article 21 GDPR to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
Changes
We update this privacy notice as needed. The current version applies from the time it is published on this website.
